AI-Powered Experiences

Pioneering AI-Powered Experiences at Aspire
As AI began reshaping how businesses interact with software, Aspire saw an opportunity to introduce intelligent capabilities into its landscape management platform. Our users managed complex operations across office teams, field crews, vendors and clients. Many of their daily workflows involved repetitive administrative tasks, manual data entry and communication challenges that created unnecessary friction.
As one of the designers responsible for Aspire’s earliest AI initiatives, I helped translate emerging AI capabilities into practical, approachable experiences that addressed real operational needs. My initiatives included Document Intelligence and Agentic AI, each exploring a different way intelligent technology could support users in their day-to-day work.
Document Intelligence
Turning Manual Invoice Review Into an Intelligent Workflow
Processing vendor invoices and purchase receipts traditionally required users to manually review documents, identify relevant information and enter data into Aspire. This repetitive process was time-consuming and vulnerable to human error. Our solution simplified the document processing through automation.
The Solution
I designed a Document Intelligence experience leveraging Microsoft Azure AI-powered optical character recognition (OCR) and document processing capabilities to extract key information from uploaded vendor invoices. Rather than requiring users to manually transcribe every field, the system presents extracted information for review, helping streamline the process from document upload to verification. A key consideration was maintaining user control over AI-generated results. The experience allows users to review and edit extracted values, replace uploaded documents and manually override inconsistencies when necessary.
Designing Human Oversight Into AI
My approach centered on a human-in-the-loop workflow, where AI assists with repetitive data extraction while users retain responsibility for verifying and correcting the information. This was particularly important for financial documents, where accuracy, transparency and the ability to recover from errors are essential.
Project status: The feature was in development at the time of my departure. Its intended value was to reduce manual data entry, minimize errors and accelerate invoice processing.

Agentic AI
Exploring the Next Generation of Landscape Management
As Aspire continued its alignment with parent company ServiceTitan, we began exploring how agentic AI could introduce a more proactive and conversational way for users to interact with the platform.
Unlike traditional AI features that perform a single task, agentic experiences can help users navigate multi-step workflows, retrieve relevant information and potentially initiate actions based on their goals.
The Design Exploration
Using ServiceTitan’s agentic AI experience as a starting point, I explored how a similar capability could be adapted to the specific operational needs of landscape management. Rather than simply replicating an existing solution, I focused on translating the concept into workflows that felt relevant to Aspire’s users and their day-to-day responsibilities. The exploration considered how an AI assistant could reduce the effort required to navigate complex information and support users in accomplishing tasks more efficiently.
Designing for an Emerging Interaction Model
This initiative challenged me to think beyond traditional screens and forms, exploring how conversational interfaces and AI-assisted actions could coexist with established product workflows. My focus was on creating an intuitive experience that balanced the flexibility of agentic AI with the clarity and predictability users expect from business-critical software.
Project status: This was an exploratory design initiative, with development still in progress at the time of my departure.

Building a Foundation for AI at Aspire
Across these initiatives, my role extended beyond designing individual features. I helped establish how AI could be introduced into an established product without adding unnecessary complexity to the user experience.
Each initiative presented a different design challenge:
- Document Intelligence: Balancing automation with accuracy, transparency and user control.
- Agentic AI: Exploring new interaction patterns for more intelligent, goal-oriented workflows.
Together, these projects helped shape Aspire’s early approach to AI-powered product experiences while contributing new interaction patterns and design considerations to its evolving design system.
Key Takeaway
Designing Aspire’s early AI experiences gave me the opportunity to work at the intersection of emerging technology, established workflows and real user needs. From intelligent document processing to exploratory agentic workflows, this work helped lay the groundwork for a more intelligent and user-centered product experience.
